Publication Ethics

The Altruistic Nursing Scientific Journal is a journal published by the Hermina Institute of Health Sciences. The Publication Ethics describe the ethical conduct expected from all parties involved in the process of preparing and publishing articles in this journal, including authors, the editor-in-chief, supporting editors, reviewers, and the publisher.

Duties of Editors

Publication Decisions

Editors are responsible for determining which articles should be published based on input received from the peer reviewers. Editors may consult with peer reviewers when making these decisions.

Research Ethics Principles

Fairness

  • Editors evaluate submitted manuscripts without discrimination based on the authors’ race, gender, sexual orientation, religious beliefs, ethnic origin, citizenship, or political philosophy.

  • Editors will first ensure that the article aligns with the focus and scope of the journal. Reviewer comments will serve as the basis for editors in deciding whether an article is accepted, accepted with major/minor revisions, or rejected.

  • An article may be rejected for several reasons, including being outside the scope of health and nursing sciences, insufficient scientific quality, fundamental methodological errors, or refusal by the author to make improvements suggested by reviewers without a valid rationale.

  • The order of publication is determined based on the order in which the article and its revisions are received by the editorial board.

Confidentiality

Editors must not disclose any information about a submitted manuscript to anyone other than the corresponding author and peer reviewers.

Duties of Reviewers

  • Peer reviewers are part of the journal’s team responsible for assisting editors in making editorial decisions through their assessment of manuscript content.

  • Every manuscript received for review must be treated as a confidential document. Manuscripts must not be shown or discussed with others except as authorized by the editor.

  • Reviews must be conducted objectively with arguments supported by scientific principles and academic standards.

Duties of Authors

  • Authors must prepare manuscripts based on accurate original research findings or reports.

  • Authors must cite all references used in the manuscript according to scientific writing standards.

  • Authors must ensure that the manuscript is free from plagiarism, including self-plagiarism.

  • Authors must ensure that the manuscript submitted to the Altruistic Nursing Scientific Journal has not been previously published in any other journal.

  • Authors must agree on the role of each contributor and determine the primary and co-authors before submission.

  • Authors must ensure that their research activities comply with research ethics.

  • Authors who discover significant errors or inaccuracies in their published work are responsible for promptly notifying the journal editor or publisher and cooperating to retract or correct the paper.
